Associate of Applied Science Degree Programmes
Certificate Programmes
Electronics Engineering
In the Associate of Applied Science in Electronics Engineering, students acquire the skills needed to maintain common electrical and electronic devices and instruments. Emphasis is on the installation, diagnosis and repair of computer systems; digital communication equipment; industrial control systems including motor controllers, program logic controllers and sensors and various other electronic equipment/systems. Students complete a 160-hour internship during which they gain practical hands-on experience. Students are required to pass the industry recognised Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) certification examination and are eligible to sit internationally recognised certification examinations such as CompTIA IT Fundamentals, A+ Essentials and A+ Practical.
Media Technology
The Associate of Applied Science in Media Technology provides students with the foundational knowledge and skills which prepare them for work in the creative and competitive field of media technology. Students are exposed to theoretical and practical training in video, television and audio production and complete a 160-hour internship during which they acquire hands-on practical experience. They complete the industry recognised Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) certification examination and are eligible to sit the internationally recognised CompTIA IT Fundamentals and A+ Essentials certification examinations. Upon successful completion of this programme, students can enter the field as audio or video technicians, videographers, audio editors or on-air producers.
Electronics Technology
In the Certificate (Level II) in Electronics Technology, students acquire the skills necessary to operate and maintain electronic systems. They learn the basics of electricity and electronics, build and troubleshoot digital circuits and learn to use various types of precision test equipment to analyse, troubleshoot and repair electronic circuitry. Students complete a 160-hour internship in which they acquire practical hands-on experience and the industry recognised Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) certification examination. This programme prepares students for entry-level engineering positions in the cable and electronic communication industries and provides supplemental training to persons previously or currently employed in these industries.
