About the Program

The Information and Communication Technology ( ICT ) program is aimed to begin training students leaving the ninth grade in the modules of I.T. Fundamentals, Linux Unhatched, Introduction to Cyber Security, Python, JavaScript, professional performances and ethics. The program – which was oversubscribed – is three years long and will mostly be held during the summer with students having to complete work on weekends and online during regular school terms. Students can sit industry certifications exams and become employable.

Program Requirements

To get into this program students must:

  • Be entering the 10th grade
  • Must be a Bahamian citizen
  • Student government-issued photo ID (passport or NIB card)
    Parent/guardian government-issued photo ID (passport or NIB card)
  • Have internet access and a computer

The National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) is an internationally recognized accrediting body that has designed standardized training and credentialing programs for more than 70 craft areas. It is an initiative by the Bahamas Government to build the Bahamian skills gap and ensure employability. NCCER is considered the training, assessment, certification and career development standard for construction and maintenance craft professionals. It is recognized in 20 countries and 50 of the United States.
